2025 Year End Competition and Exhibition

November 15 at the Edenvale Community Centre, 2nd Street, Edenvale

 – 13h30 for 14h00 till 16:00 –

Set up is between 12h30 to 13h45

We are running an art competition on Saturday, the 15th November 2025, the competition will replace the demonstration for November.

Paintings may be sold during the afternoon; Paint and Palette will not take commission on any sales. Remember to price your paintings if they are for sale.

Please invite friends and family to come along to view the artwork that will be on display during the competition. No door fee will be charged and the competition will be open to the public for viewing at no charge.

A well known artist will be invited to do a critique of the artwork for us. Participants who do not want their artwork to be critiqued, please advise the committee member on submission of your artwork.

First Prize R 1 500

Third Prize R 750

Paint and Palette Certificates will be awarded to all three winners.

Rules of the competition: 

  • Only original artwork work produced from your own reference material will be accepted.
  • It must be a new work that you have completed in 2025 and that has not yet been exhibited anywhere.
  • There is no theme for the competition.
  • The maximum size of any side of the artwork may not exceed 1m, this does not include the frame.
  • Artworks do not need to be framed. Works on paper should at least be mounted.
  • Only paid-up members of Paint and Palette are eligible to take part in the competition. (or you may pay R380 which will include your 2026 annual subscription)
  • Artists may enter as many works as they wish.
  • Entry fee is R50 per artwork.
  • Bring your artwork and easel/s with you to display. (No easels will be provided, but tables will be provided for smaller table easels)
  • Register your artwork with the relevant committee member, who will allocate a number to the work. (Registration forms will be provided at the venue) This number is to be placed over you signature so that the competition is anonymous.
  • Each paid-up member, whether exhibiting or not, will have 3 votes. Voting slips will be handed out at the registration desk. Votes are your top 3 in no particular order. It is an anonymous vote. Visitors may not vote.

12h30 to 13h45 – Set up. Any artwork not set up by 13h45 will not be considered.
14h00 to 14h45 – Voting. Tea will be served during this period.
15h00 to 15h45 – Critique. (Votes will be counted by the committee during this time)
15h45 – The winners will be announced
16h00 – We close. All work displayed must remain on display until we close at 16h00 and may not be removed before.

Paint and Palette will not accept any liability for any damage that may occur to artwork while on display.

Where and when

The Paint and Palette Group meets at the Edenvale Community Centre (corner of Van Riebeeck Avenue and 2nd Street) at 13h30 for 14h00. Entrance fee is R100 for visitors and R30 for members.

Annual subscriptions

The subscription for this year R300. Please pay your subscription via EFT  (please reference your full name) to facilitate a speedy entry. The card facility will be available at the entrance of the demonstration. If you do pay via EFT, please bring your proof with you or sms it to Danuta.
