David begins with an overall peach pastel with some blue rubbed into the paper.

He adds different shades of grey for the clouds and rubs the pastel in

He adds light into the clouds

Gold ocre in put into the foreground

A ‘bush line’ is added to the horizon

Consider the placement of the tree and remember proportions

The ‘silhouette’ of the tree is completed and blue-grey mountains are also put in.

Shadows and detail are put into the tree

More detail is put into the foreground

More detail is added to complete the pastel painting.
