Cathy paints in many mediums including acrylics, chalk pastels, mixed and oils; subjects include portraits, figures, pets, wild life, florals and landscapes. She is best known for her skill in realistic portraiture. Her varied career has included working as an illustrator for books, magazines and newspapers, doing cartoons, murals, being an air-hostess for SAA and using her creative abilities to run her own business doing stained glass and sand-blasting.

Cathy became a full-time artist 2014 when she started to teach art to children and adults, she currently teaches five art classes a week in Edenglen.

Her philosophy: “The most important thing you can teach your students is how to get along without you.” She has taken part in a number of exhibitions and her work has found homes as far as Canada and Colorado in the US. Her amazing ability to capture character in her portraits made her the 2016 Rotary Portrait Award Winner.

Mixed Media Workshop - 29 March 2025

Following the demonstration on the 18th January, Dalila will host a mixed media workshop on the 29th March 2025. This will incorporate various techniques to create landscapes with different papers, inks and objects: Some items that will be used include: Japanese momigami paper, stained rice paper, dried clay leaves, cut-outs, etc. She will demonstrate the use of air hardening clay to show how the items for the painting and collaging are created. Dalila will provide dried clay items for participants to use, as the process is quite time consuming and the clay will not have time to dry at the workshop. Members will then create their own landscapes by stamping, collaging and assembling the items.
