Portraits in Charcoal 

Tiens discovered at a very early age that he could draw and he decided to pursue a career as a graphic designer. However, he found that raising a family, and dealing with life that he didn’t get much time to paint.

At the end of 2016 he started painting seriously and began to do a great deal of commissioned work, and subsequently became a full time artist in April 2023. He is mostly self taught and has developed along different paths.

He paints various subjects and says the art journey is full of surprises making him always curious to learn more. Beauty inspires him. He states that; ‘There is an eternal quality about a moment in time”. He tries to capture these moments in his paintings.

Although His preferred medium is Oil paint, he also works with other media including charcoal and he loves sketching people in pen and ink as well.
