Lorena Ruffini
Known to most members; artist and art teacher Lorena is primarily self-taught. She works mainly in oils, acrylics and mixed media. Her main focus is to touch as many peoples’ lives with joyful, uplifting paintings where colour plays an integral part. She will demonstrate florals in acrylics and oil pastels on Saturday.
“I draw inspiration from the vibrant colours I see around me – colour for me is like breathing in fresh air and I want to share that in my paintings.”
Her art journey began almost 25 years ago with a desire to learn to draw. She went on to pursue oil painting and took various courses from local art teachers. The continued desire to learn more and experiment with different media over the years has allowed Loréna to become well versed in a many techniques and applications.
She has taken part in a number of exhibitions which include the Brush and Chisel Group, Paint and Palette Group, Marist Brothers College Exhibition, the Rosebank Art Precinct as well as the Rotary Art Exhibition in Rosebank.
Loréna has sold many paintings both locally as well as in Italy, Germany, UK, Netherlands, the United States and Australia. She also has her own studio in Paulshof where she gives art classes on a Saturday morning.
During lockdown Loréna embarked on a journey of ‘mark making’ as a way of self exploration, experimentation and expressing herself.
